Sesame Oil For Hair Restores Scalp To Grow Hair Longer Fast

Have you started trying out my ‘hair grow longer’ sesame oil for hair recipes – which I shared in my previous sesame oil for hair post? While you do that, here is more information about the goodness or benefits of this simple oil for your hair.

According to Wikipedia, sesame oil is also known as gingelly oil or til oil. Sesame oil is an edible vegetable oil that comes from sesame seeds. Other than being used as a cooking oil in South India, it is often used to enhance the flavor of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and some Southeast Asian dishes.

I love using sesame oil for my some of my cooking. I use sesame oil to fry eggs, fry rice, stir fry vegetables, for salads, for soups and much more – it has a pleasant, aromatic and fragrant smell and is nutrituous.

And of course, it works great for my scalp and hair too! It helps my hair grow longer healthily and fast.

And do you also know that this nutritious oil is used as the base oil for massages and used to help relieve some skin problems? Sesame oil is popular with Ayurveda treatments as well. In fact, sesame oil has a very long history.

Sesame oil comes in different color tones. For example, cold-pressed sesame oil is pale yellow. Indian (gingelly or til oil) is golden while East Asian (what I use for cooking) is like dark brown –the one in the picture.sesame oil for hair

The dark brown one comes from roasted or toasted sesame seeds. Cold pressed sesame oil (much lighter color tone) comes from raw seeds which are also sold in pharmacies and health shops.

How Sesame Oil For Hair Works For Scalp So Hair Grow Long Fast

Penetrative – Sesame oil penetrates the skin and pores easily. If you do research on therapeutic essential oils, you may learn that not all essential oils are made to be equal or the same. I mean, not all essential oils penetrate or can be absorbed by our skin just as easily or deeply. Sesame oil is rich in polyunsaturated fat. This is why it penetrates deeply and is popular massage base oil. This oil is popularly used as massage oil especially for the foot (Indian massage) or the scalp. Sesame oil for hair works well.

Moisture – From what I learn when I asked around and talked to people, although some are allergic to sesame oil (like a few of my friends are), most skin are tolerant to sesame oil. In fact, sesame oil has a very long history. It has been used to relieve skin problems like aczema, psoriasis or as a good moisturizer for dry skin.

Plus, it makes a good natural moisturizer for dry, coarse or brittle hair and hair with split ends. Massaging your scalp with sesame oil helps control dryness and flakiness as well as improve blood circulation helps prevent hair loss. This also helps restore the health of your scalp and keep it healthy.

Since sesame oil penetrates well, its high vitamin E content is easily absorbed by our skin and scalp (for the scalp, this is where scalp massage is vital).

Sunscreen – The US FDA has approved sesame oil as an ingredient for commercial sunscreens. Therefore, as it is effective to protect our skin from harmful UV rays, it also protects while keeping our hair well-moisturized when we are in the sun. This is how carrying my little bottle of sesame oil and water hair spray can be very handy 🙂

Antibacterial and anti-inflammation – Sesame oil for hair, with its antibacterial and anti-inflammation qualities works great for relieving not just skin but scalp infections or fungal infections. This then helps to relieve hair loss, restores the health of the scalp so that hair grows healthily at its optimum speed.

Relieve Stress – Other than from my own experience and from what I hear very often from others, stress and depression is a common factor that causes hair loss. I remember at the hair treatment salon, my specialist used to advise me to take time to chill out regularly. No matter how busy and stressful my job was, I needed to take time out to rest, relax and chill out. And whenever I feel I was stressed out and fail to do my scalp massages consistently, I see my hair falling a lot more.

Since stress is a common cause of hair loss, sesame oil’s cooling properties helps relieve stress when massaged on the scalp. Same here, when I feel like ‘cooling down or calming down’ other than chamomile oil, I would choose sesame oil to do my scalp massage.

Darkens Hair – This is something I gather from my research. However, so far that I have been using sesame oil, I am still not sure if it actually darkens hair – maybe not for mine but may darken others. Anyway, my hair is dark brown – which is already dark 😉

Just a side note, this goes the same for honey – it seems honey lightens hair color. So far that I have been using honey, my hair color and tone is still the same. So again, you will need to see this for yourself or your unique hair condition 🙂

So there you go! Those are in a nutshell, some ways of how sesame oil for hair and scalp can do wonders.
